Tributes paid to Ingham man who died following a collision with a tractor in Redgrave

Tributes have been paid to a 67-year-old man who died following a road traffic collision in Redgrave last month.

The collision occurred at around 9.40am on Friday 23 August in Fen Street, between a cyclist and a tractor and trailer.

Leonard Bates, from the Ingham area and who was the cyclist involved, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, but sadly died the following day.

Mr Bates’ family have asked us to issue the following tribute on their behalf:

“Len Bates was tragically taken from us on the morning of the 24th August 2019, having been involved in a collision the day before whilst enjoying one of his regular cycle rides.

“Len was very much loved by his wife Sue and his boys Andrew and Peter.

“He was friendly and outgoing, Len would help anyone who needed him and had a lot of time for his family and friends.

“He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends, and everyone that knew him.”
