UPDATE: Crowd funding page set up for pensioner scammed out of £75,000 by telephone fraudsters

A crowd funding page has been set up after pensioner was scammed out of her life savings in Bury St Edmunds.

The elderly woman was conned into transferring her life savings from her bank account by telephone scammers earlier this week.

The incident was reported by her bank to police on Tuesday lunchtime.

The victim, in her 80s, who’s husband is in care, was persuaded into transferring a large sum of money, thought to be in the region of £75,000 by telephone scammers pretending to be from the fraud office.

PC Daniel Witter spoke to Ryan McClean on the BIG Drive Home on RWSfm 103.3 on Thursday.

Police are reminding the public never to disclose personal information of a financial manner to anybody on the telephone.
