UPDATE Police find a body in the search for missing Thomas Chappell


Police searching for missing person Thomas Chappell have located the body of a man.

The body was found in a field in Rede by a member of the public yesterday (Wednesday 8 August) afternoon.

22 year old Thomas Chappell from the Hartest area of Bury St Edmunds was last seen on Monday 6 August at about 3pm.

Formal identification of the body is yet to take place but Mr Chappell’s next of kin have been informed.

The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but detectives do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

Police are appealing for help to trace a man reported as missing from the Hartest area of Bury St Edmunds.

 

22 year old Thomas Chappell was last seen on Monday 6 August at about 3pm.

 

He is described as white, about five foot, eight inches tall and is wearing stubble. When last seen he was wearing a Christopher Ward stainless steel watch, also wearing a silver necklace with square pendant on it. He also was wearing a black long sleeved t shirt with white ziq-zags on the sleeves, had navy blue shorts on and cream trainers. His car, a silver Renault Clio reg: NV60 HRX, was also found abandoned in a field in Brockley.

 

Officers are concerned for his welfare and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Thomas.

 

Enquiries are on-going to locate him and anyone who has seen Thomas or knows of his whereabouts should contact Suffolk Constabulary on 101.
