Bumper Bury St Edmunds Bank Holiday lined up at the Whitsun Fayre

A bumper Bury St Edmunds Bank Holiday weekend is on the cards at the end of this month with the annual Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre.  The free-admission two day event, organised by the town’s Business Improvement District, will offer a host of stalls and attractions around the town centre including the ever-popular urban beach, back for a sixth year at the Fayre.

With no danger of being cut off by the tide, visitors can enjoy deckchairs, Punch and Judy shows and feel the sand between their toes without having to sit in heavy traffic to reach some of the county’s coastal resorts over the bank holiday weekend.

Chief Executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, Mark Cordell, said:  “The urban beach is one of many attractions that make the Whitsun Fayre a brilliant event for all the family, offering a full day of free entertainment on Sunday and Monday.

“For visitors from across Suffolk and further afield, it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Bury St Edmunds and everything it has to offer as a number of shops, bars and restaurants will also be open during the event.  It also means local people who support town centre businesses throughout the year can enjoy a free day out as our way of saying thank you.”

The Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre has a variety of other popular attractions including the mini-farm near the top of Abbeygate Street, a flower and plant market, as well as artisan food and craft stalls on Angel Hill and free street entertainment throughout the town centre.

Admission to the event is free and it runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 26 and Bank Holiday Monday 27 May.  For more information visit www.ourburystedmunds.com/whitsunfayre
